Marriott Card Offers Early 2026

While it is relatively common for Amex to play around with the sign up bonus structures of their mainline cards (eg. cobalt, platinum etc), their sign up bonuses on their cobranded cards are often far more static (see my article remarking about how unusual their previous promo was). Amex surprised us with offers that compare favourably to the best we've seen, but with far lower spend amounts on their Bonvoy cards. How does this compare to before and who should pick up these cards? Lets get into it.

Referrals and Disclaimers at the bottom.
Marriott Bonvoy Cards
Amex Canada issues two Bonvoy cards, a personal and business version, both have always been great long term keeper cards on the basis of their annual free night stay certificates.
Amex Bonvoy
Prior to today the Amex Bonvoy typically had the following SUB structure
50k points for $1.5k in 3mo
(an elevated 55-60 could often be had for $3k in 3mo)
This has been replaced with
80k after spending $6k in 6mo
30k points for any purchase in mo 15
Totalling 110k
Compare to the previous best offer summer 2025
65k points for $3k in 3mo
30k points for spending $20k in first 12 mo
15k points for any purchase between mo 15-17
Totalling 110k
This is a dramatic revamp to the card - strengthening the primary bonus by 30k points (in exchange for an extra $4.5k in spend across an longer 6mo spend period), and bringing back the fantastic second year bonus. The second year bonus was particularly surprising during last year's promotion as the free night certificate awarded on the anniversary and subsequent years was already reason enough to hold the card long term. Compared to the previous best bonus this is the same 110k points for $14k less spend! Just be careful that the second year bonus is specifically for spend in the 15th month, not 15-17, so I suggest putting a recurring or scheduled bill on the card to make sure its not missed.
Amex Business Bonvoy
Prior to today the Business Bonvoy typically had the following SUB structure
60k points for $5k in 3mo
This has been replaced with
80k points for spending $10k in 6mo
30k points for any purchase in mo 15
Totalling 110k
Compare to the previous best offer summer 2025
75k points for $6k in 3mo
40k points for spending $30k in first 12 mo
15k points for any purchase between mo 15-17
Totally 130k
Similar to the personal card this promotion is a massive win with a stronger primary bonus and the addition of the second year bonus. The total is somewhat lower than last year's best offer, but the amount of spend required is $20k less. Considering I got this card during that promo with no intention of hitting the $30k tier, I would have gotten 20k more points with this offer.
Stacking Opportunities
There are several ways you can potentially stack this to be even more rewarding.
If you dont currently have a Bonvoy account you can be referred to that before opening the card, unlocking up to 10k additional points - message us to learn more
If you take part in the Bonvoy Q1 promo you can earn a bonus 2500 pts and bonus elite night credit per brand you stay at before May 10th, and with 30+ brands theres quite a few options!
If you book through a shopping portal like eStore or Rakuten you can stack even more.
Conclusion
Amex has released what are arguably the best ever offers for some of the easiest cards to hold long term. These offers are active until April 7th 2026, if you were considering a Bonvoy card (Personal or Business) now is the time to act. My household already holds quite a few Bonvoy cards, with only one slot remaining (My P2 could get the business bonvoy) so I'll definitely be considering completing our set. If you're interested, I suggest you send our team a quick note or message one of our experts on Facebook (Ben Hutten-Czapski or Alex Chase) so that we can make sure you get the best offer/referral link, we may be able to stack a secondary promotion on top of this depending on your timelines.
