In late March 2025, Chexy made a big splash by expanding its offerings allowing for new opportunities for sustainable earning - supporting credit card payment of personal taxes and multiple new types of payment methods for bills. Since then I've been hard at work with them to launch physician specific features and I'm excited to launch the early Beta of a BIG one - Corporate taxes. After a period of internal testing, and then subsequent small scale testing with community members (Thanks everyone!) with payments processing perfectly on the backend, Chexy has given me the greenlight to extend this to the Chexy x RewardsMD beta stream. Check out the other articles about Chexy x RewardsMD here.

As always you can find more Referral information and Disclaimers at the end of the article.

Signing up

Sign up via the exclusive referral link to flag your account as potential Physician/Dentist/professional. Then email smallbusiness@chexy.co to verify your eligibility and for compliance purposes (license number and articles of incorporation), and upon doing so you'll be eligible for 15,000 AP points if you process at least $15k in payments by September 15th (should be a lot easier with corp taxes!). This is in addition to the currently available new account offer shown below

AND this is in addition to the points you'll earn on whichever card you use, imagine if you're using this to get a big sign up bonus!

If you already have an active Chexy account but have not verfied with the Chexy x RewardsMD program, email as per above to get access to early features - you just wont be eligible for the additional points.

Early Beta

For this early beta release, the changes are all on the Chexy backend, that means the visual interface is unchanged. Don't worry, the functionality is there behind the scenes and we have Chexy's support to go ahead with this beta. User facing changes like a dedicated interface with instructions will be rolling out in the coming days/weeks, but I know some people may want to get their upcoming payroll remittance etc onto Chexy. The fee is 1.75% (well below paysimplys 2.5%) and it is eligible towards your chexy promotions. Also, unlike paysimply you can schedule recurring monthly payments - I guess I'll have to redo my article on turning taxes into rewards!

For this early beta we are launching support for corporate installments and payroll remittance (testing for Revenu Quebec and HST are ongoing). Until the user facing changes are in place, these are the steps for setting up payments (you will not have to change this after the frontend changes if you don't want to). Follow the steps both for corp installments and payroll remittances separately, there are two main steps, first to generate your chexy pad details, and second to give them to the CRA.

Generate your Chexy PAD Details

In a new browser tab go to your chexy.co account and set up a new recurring payment under property taxes (yes under property taxes, it will all be managed on the backend until there is a dedicated corp tax frontend). If you'd like to set up a onetime payment you can follow these same steps under the "set up a one time payment" option on Chexy.

Select Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) - at this time this is the only supported payment method for corp taxes with Chexy

Enter Payment info for the CRA:

  • Payee name eg. CRA Payroll Remittance (any name you want for your reference)

  • Payee email: info@cra.ca

  • Payee phone number :1-800-959-8281

  • Address: 275 Pope Rd. Summerside, PE

Next enter your payment amount and payment date (if you already have PAD setup with CRA then this will be easy to get in subsequent steps if you're unsure)

  • Payroll taxes are due by the 15th of each month, do not schedule payroll taxes to pay after the 15th as it may be misallocated as a late payment for this month instead of an early payment for next month.

  • CRA's processing time for editing an existing PAD or creating a new one is 5 business days. IF YOU HAVE A PAYMENT DUE SOONER THAN THIS, YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY AS YOU WOULD NORMALLY

  • Based on these two parameters, we suggest for payroll that you select a payment date for Aug 7-11th for this month (consider the timing of your credit card statement to enhance cashflow), or 1-11th for subsequent months.

Make note of the PAD details generated for this payment

Give your Chexy PAD details to CRA

The easiest way to do this depends on your situation

Pre-Existing PAD

Because you already have a PAD agreement we just need to update it to share the new Chexy details.

In a separate tab, sign into your business CRA page, click on Manage pre-authorized debit to see your current PAD agreements.

Click on the relevant agreement you're changing to Chexy

Provided your payment is greater than 5 business days away, you should have the ability to edit your PAD (shown is for corp installments)

Click edit, if it is a payroll payment the date should be before the 15th and we recommend having payment dates as early as reasonably possible (currently Aug 7th). In any case these payment dates and amounts should be the same as the payment you are setting up on Chexy. Towards the bottom will be the option to enter new banking info, this is where you enter the PAD information generated on Chexy, note that you will have to repeat all these steps with new PAD information to have both payroll and corp installments setup.

No Pre Existing PAD - Corporate Installments

If you do not already have a PAD setup to edit, you'll have to setup a new PAD agreement with CRA

For corp installments see below, for payroll remittances, jump ahead as the option is in a different location on CRA.

From the main page of your CRA business account find your Corportion income tax account, and click view and pay account balance.

Enter the desired amount and select the appropriate year (this one for installments) and click proceed to pay

Indicate that you want to schedule recurring payments

Fill the fields accordingly (remember chexy only supports monthly recurring payments currently)

This is where you will enter the PAD details generated from Chexy. Provided you have saved both the Chexy PAD setup, and the CRA PAD setup, you're done. Chexy will bill your card in advance of the payment date, then the CRA will pull the money from Chexy on the pre-determined date. The payment typically posts onto CRA in 1-2 business days. If you want to change the payment amount, remember you have to edit both the chexy amount and the cra amount.

No Pre Existing PAD - Payroll Remittance

For Payroll remittances the option is in a slightly different location vs corporate installments. On the main page of your business CRA account select manage pre-authorized debit

Then click "schedule payments" and on the next page select the appropriate account (your RP0001 payroll assuming you only have the one payroll account), and payment allocation (regular remittance - chexy does not currently support automated frequencies other than monthly).

This is where you will enter the PAD details generated from Chexy. Provided you have saved both the Chexy PAD setup, and the CRA PAD setup, you're done. Summary

To summarize - generate a "property tax" recurring PAD for each tax type on Chexy, then edit or create a corresponding PAD agreement with the CRA. This will then give you recurring tax payments via Chexy. If you need varying payment amounts you'll have to edit both the Chexy and CRA amounts, and be aware of the 5 business day timeframe for CRA PAD adjustments, but for people with consistent payments this is a super easy way to generate a LOT of points.

Is it worth it?

You may or may not have seen my previous articles about turning taxes into rewards - the math made sense before even with Paysimply at higher fees, and now it makes even more sense with lower fees and greater automation. To top it off, it will make it trivial for many to get the Chexy x RewardsMD bonus Aeroplan points.

I've dived deep into comparing cards for ongoing use with Chexy. Beyond that, if you don't already have a good card for this, you could sign up for one and get a sign up bonus on top of it all. This could add 50-200k in additional points depending on the card. Not sure what card to pick? You can check out our card comparison tool, my favourites are the Business Platinum, Business Aeroplan Reserve, and Business Avion Visa Infinite. These cards all earn 1.25x of a highly valuable point useful for aspirational business class travel. There are currently significant promotions for a number of Amex mainline and cobranded cards active till Aug 18th. I would strongly recomend you consider an Amex card when in doubt - due to Chexy's tight integration with Amex, your credit card statement will show the labeling for your payments making bookeeping easier (shown below is amex vs visa)

On an Amex you'll see the name you selected for the payment
On an Amex you'll see the name you selected for the payment

On a Visa you'll see Chexy Inc
On a Visa you'll see Chexy Inc

Our Take

Chexy was already one of a short list of top sustainable techniques for earning points. We've partnered to create a program that adds a stack of bonus points and gets you in line for even more features and opportunities. If you're a physician or doctor who hasn't already signed up, now is the time, sign up here to get into the program, then email smallbusiness@chexy.co with your license information. Chexy is giving us exclusive early access to corporate taxes at a rate that significantly undercuts the competition. Setup is a little bit rough around the edges during this early beta, but the payoff is SO worth it . Check out the main article on Chexy x RewardsMD to follow along as I continue to advocate for new features for us.
