In late March 2025, Chexy made a big splash by expanding its offerings allowing for new opportunities for sustainable earning - supporting credit card payment of personal taxes and multiple new types of payment methods for bills. Seeing a big opportunity for professionals, I'm working with them to enhance their physician/dentist specific offerings and to add a chunk of additional points over top of their public offers.

Is It Worth It? Overcoming Current Limitations
New Accounts
New accounts as of 10th June 2025 through our exclusive referral link will flag your account as potential Physician or Dentist. Next, email your license info to smallbusiness@chexy.co to verify your eligibility (or else you'll have to wait for them to ask for it!). They'll reply with further clarification and details and you'll be eligible for 15,000 AP points process at least $15k in payments by September 15th (CRA installment date!). This is in addition to the currently available new account offer shown below

AND this is in addition to the points you'll earn on whichever card you use, imagine if you're using this to get a big sign up bonus! Note these additional points will not be visibly tracked in the dashboard, and will be paid out at the end of September.
What Else Do You Get
In addition to the potential for 15k more points (average value ~$300), you get signed up for their small business beta program. This means you'll be among the first to get access to new features as they roll out. This could mean priority support, multi card support, corporate taxes, payroll etc. The larger of a sign up movement we make the greater chance they'll see our value and align their priorities with ours. I made the case to them that we are a big community - please help me prove this to be the case.

What Can I Use It For?
Chexy lets you pay many different payees via Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD), Bill Pay, or e-transfer. While the interface is clearly setup for Chexy's core consumer with payment categories like "rent" mentioning home, condo etc. I've helped Chexy come up with a new FAQ about eligible professional categories. For example office rent can go under rent, an office reno can go under home expenses, CMPA can go under insurance etc.
What Can I NOT Use It For?
You will not be able to pay loans, mortgages, or fund bank accounts via credit card, this is against the terms of the payment networks. So while you can do a car lease, you cant do a car payment; an office rent is ok, but not an office mortgage etc.
While you can make SIN linked personal tax payments, you can not yet make BIN linked tax payments like Corporate installments or payroll deductions. For that you can consider Paysimply although the fee is higher.
Is It Worth It?
Chexy charges a 1.75% processing fee for Canadian Visa and Amex products - given the fee it's logical to want or expect to out earn it. There are fortunately multiple cards that can reliably earn 2.5-4% back, a comfortable arbitrage which can scale with your spending to add some passive reward generation.
Chexy can also make it much easier to hit some of the massive sign up bonuses that would otherwise be challenging with your typical spend. For example there are currently all time high offers for multiple Amex Mainline cards and Cobrand Cards (Aeroplan and Marriott) that require significant spend. For people considering opening a new card, these large point bonuses further outweigh the fees.
Even better, if you're paying a business expense, the use of corporate money and/or a deduction can significantly discount the fee compared to the earning. Any of the above, but especially in combination can lead to a large arbitrage opportunity. But even if you're unsure, the initial payment bonus of Aeroplan points is enough to offset the fee of over $2000 in transactions, even if the fee is non deductible and you are using a card that earns 0% back - even if you're using a basic card like the TD AP Visa Infinite, pushing through $15k in payment will earn you 22k AP points from the promo and 15k AP points from the card. That 37k points would have a mean value of $740, meanwhile the transaction fee would be $262 - and that is with no sign up bonus, and a weak card. If you opened a new business platinum that same $15k would be enough to unlock a 110k point sub and would earn about 18k on the spend itself... All told thats 150k points (enough for a business class round trip to Europe!). Even better if the card or expense are business expenses! Those with big spend should reach out to me to discuss even better offers, or look at the currently hyper elevated cobranded and mainline amex card promos. For the uncertain, using a card that earns 4% back on the first $25k in recurring payments (chexy payments trigger this) like the Scotia Momentum VI is a great choice, but for those who learn how to maximize their rewards (maybe by attending one of my free talks), variable value points that can book business class tickets are often more appealing.
Overcoming Current Limitations
Currently Chexy only supports a recurring frequency of monthly, you can work around this with manual payments or multiple monthly payments, but this is an area I hope to see change soon. Recurring payments are also currently only for fixed amounts, fortunately there are a number of workarounds for this you can consider.
Only a single card can be linked to your account at a time, again there are multiple workarounds - my tip article is in progress so for now I will summarize
Use your account for business, and your spouse's for personal
Or batch your personal expenses in one half of the month and business in the other half and swapping the card between
Or focus on the type of expense with the biggest cashflow (ie. only do personal or only do business)
Or put it all on one card and make sure to account/bookkeep/reimburse appropriately
Our Take
Chexy was already one of a short list of top sustainable techniques for earning points. We've partnered to create a program that adds a stack of bonus points and gets you in line for even more features and opportunities. If you're a physician or doctor who hasn't already signed up, now is the time, sign up here to get into the program. This can be a great passive rewards generator for you as part of a comprehensive strategy optimizing personal vs business, sustainable vs unsustainable, and organic vs inorganic earning.
